Reminiscence can be painful and

nostalgia so excruciating–

Although so familiar and warm,

there is no one there anymore.

No matter how often we return to the past,

we already know the endings.

But!

It’s the familiarity and warmth that can also make

reminiscence such a beautiful daydream, and

nostalgia such a comfort in the lonely present.

Some memories never leave your bones

like the salt in the sea or

the stars in the night sky.

Amid yesteryear’s glow,

where time’s soft whispers linger,

the heart recalls the days gone by.

Through the corridors of past seasons’ ballet,

memories weave a tapestry both poignant and sublime–

reections of childhood and vintage summers,

friends and family passed and first loves.

Where the soul ebbs and flows,

a song of the past whispers in the wind.

Life and love guide us down

boulevards of dreams and memories,

creating a gentle balm for the soul and

doorway to emotions full of bittersweet nostalgia.

And so, with these trips to the past

through music and photographs and daydreams,

reminiscence becomes a sanctuary,

a haven for the heart’s solitary journey.

A solstice, or standstill, in your memories

always readily available to be revisited
